Levels of Care, Personalized for You
Our Specialties
Each client receives a personalized treatment plan that may include intensive clinical support, structured outpatient care, and integrated therapeutic services. Our Houston-based programs are designed to work together as a continuum, allowing clients to step up or down in care as their needs evolve.
Overview of Our Levels of Care
Individualized Intensive Program (IIP)
The Heights Treatment IIP program may be the best fit for a client who is transitioning from an increased level of treatment or exiting an inpatient program. In Houston, the IIP program is a 90-day plan that offers a multidisciplinary and individualized approach to client care in concentrated doses while still offering flexibility in their schedule to maintain work, home, or academic obligations.
Our IIP process is founded on the application of a variety of proven therapeutic modalities, individual mentoring, and the implementation of supportive or sober living. Our IIP takes place over three phases within the required 90-day timeframe but will be modified to fit the needs of each client.
After a detailed and comprehensive diagnostic assessment with our admissions team, clients will be given a customized treatment plan and begin the first phase. As the client progresses through treatment, supporting therapies and treatment plans will be implemented based on progress and self-efficacy.
Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
A Partial Hospitalization Program is an intensive outpatient program designed for those who have completed a residential program. The benefit of a PHP program is the blend of intense, daily treatment with the flexibility to sleep at home.
Clients will receive daily treatment in a monitored and structured environment on a daily basis in our supportive and serene environment. This program gives necessary space to those struggling with home, work, school, or social pressures or influences and allows them to spend most of their day focused on personal healing and recovery.
At The Heights Treatment, our PHP program takes place over five days a week for at least six hours per day. Our PHP program would be a good fit for those who require intensive and structured treatment but who cannot commit the finances or time to an inpatient program.
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
Our intensive outpatient programs are a good fit for clients who have completed a PHP program or are exiting residential or inpatient treatment. This level of care is for those who require more intensive support than a standard outpatient program but also need flexibility in their schedule to maintain daily routines.
The Heights Treatment IOP programs require attendance at individual and group therapy sessions for three to five days per week and at least three hours per day. This increased level of structure over a standard outpatient program offers consistent, daily treatment but does not require inpatient care.
As the client progresses through their recovery and pursues lasting sobriety, the number of required sessions they must attend will decrease until they reach a standard outpatient level. We feel it’s important for patients and families to understand that clinical and community support is always available. Should the client require additional support or treatment, their care plan can be adjusted to match their current or escalating needs at any time.
Outpatient Program (OP)
Outpatient programs for substance abuse treatment are the step in the recovery journey where the client has developed strong personal autonomy and is ready for a reduced intensity of care. They will meet for individual therapy on a regular basis but will no longer be required to attend daily sessions.
These clients will still have ready access to valuable and practical group sessions when convenient throughout the week and can attend on a schedule that works for them. Outpatient programs are the bridge between intensive care programs and aftercare plans to equip and prepare clients as they fully reintegrate into their daily routines.
Clients will continue to learn valuable coping skills and have the opportunity to practice them in private and group sessions. They will be in regular contact with providers and sponsors as they navigate daily triggers, influences, and obstacles.
This is when recovery begins to define your life rather than the substance.

Frequently Asked Questions About The Heights Treatment Houston
What’s the Difference Between Outpatient and Inpatient Treatment?
The main difference between outpatient and inpatient treatment lies in the living arrangements and intensity of care. Also known as residential treatment, inpatient programs require individuals to live at the treatment facility. Inpatient treatment offers a structured environment with round-the-clock care for those with severe addiction or co-occurring mental health disorders.
Outpatient programs allow individuals to live at home while attending treatment sessions at a facility, typically for a few hours per week. This type of treatment is suited for those with milder forms of addiction or as a step-down level of care after completing an inpatient program.
How Long Does Rehab Last?
The duration of rehab can vary significantly depending on the individual’s needs, the severity of their addiction, and the type of program they are enrolled in. Generally, rehab programs can last from 30 days to 90 days, or even longer for extended care options. The length of our programs at The Heights Treatment Center can vary and may be customized to your needs.
Should I Travel to Houston for Addiction Treatment?
Traveling to Houston for drug rehabilitation can be a beneficial choice for many individuals. The city’s diverse and supportive community, coupled with its wealth of resources and amenities, can provide a conducive environment for healing and recovery. Additionally, the change of scenery and the physical distance from one’s usual environment can help some individuals focus more intently on their recovery journey.
